Job description

Pinnacle Auto Group (Focus Hyundai, Focus Autobody, West Park Chevrolet Buick GMC, Kenora Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg, Mercedes-Benz Kitchener-Waterloo) is looking for a dynamic people leader to join us in the role of Human Resources Generalist. We are looking for candidates with previous HR experience and/or formal Human Resource education. This role will be responsible for Focus Hyundai, Focus Autobody, and West Park Chevrolet Buick GMC. Experience in multi-location management is an asset. This position will report to the Director of People and Culture.

Position Overview:

You’re extraordinary! You have a strategic role within the leadership team, providing human resource direction to all business units within the organization. This position oversees talent and performance management activities and initiatives as well as tactical direction and support in all HR activities.

Job (day-to-day duties)

  • Performs HR administrative duties, including maintaining employee files and database, communicating HR information, and processing HR reports.
  • Develops, implements and updates all HR policies and procedures.
  • Applies and adheres to all employment law requirements in the jurisdictions and communities in which we operate, and employs best practices founded on common sense and experience, while working collaboratively with our external legal counsel.
  • Identifies key issues and plays an important role in supporting and driving our strategy map, including learning and development initiatives.
  • Builds onto, executes and supports an existing performance management system which emphasizes individual goals in alignment with organizational goals, and leads change in all areas of performance management using contemporary methods and personal experience.
  • Assists in developing systems to recognize and reward individual and team performance, in alignment with overall organizational engagement methods.
  • Works with management in addressing performance issues and provides consultative and direct support as required. Acts as the point of contact for day-to-day human resource issues, including overseeing performance improvement solutions, oversight of disciplinary actions and counselling staff towards successful outcomes.
  • Leads all recruiting activities creating a branding strategy that supports our theme of being a ‘great place to work’, including screening, interviewing, and candidate selection at all levels of the organization.
  • Builds an effective onboarding program that includes an introduction to our organization’s culture, internal processes, individual expectations, and job requirements.
  • Helps develop and maintain an employee-training program.
  • Identifies key performance metrics relevant to human resource management, and promotes their use, tracking and management so that continuous improvement remains a focus.
  • Helps build and maintains the company’s performance review (AMG) program and process.
  • Handles HR issues discreetly and confidentially.
  • Involved in terminations, ensuring the correct process is followed according to Employment Standards.
  • Administers and maintains the Benefits and Pension.
  • Implements and promotes team building activities on a regular basis.
