We are currently seeking an individual to assume the demanding and rewarding position of Human Resources Officer, Employee and Labour Relations, with the Human Resources Division in the Administration Department.
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Human Resources Officer, Employee and Labour Relations oversees contract administration; promotes positive Labour Relations, conducts market research and supports the progressive discipline process. This position works collaboratively with union and employee group representatives and managerial personnel to promote harmonious relations through the administration and interpretation of the collective agreements and employment agreements, as well as through the investigation and resolution of workplace issues and concerns. This position will also assist in the development of new HR processes and procedures. This position provides back-up support to the payroll function and acts in the CHRO's absence.
Applicants require a comprehensive knowledge of diverse Human Resources practices coupled with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to perform independently, utilizing sound judgment, is essential.
The position requires a post-secondary diploma in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations and a minimum of five years' related experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $106,067 - $132,584 and a comprehensive benefit package including a monthly housing and vacation travel allowance and a Defined Benefit Pension Plan.
