Ice Cream Production

The Merry Dairy is a small batch, handmade frozen custard and Ice Cream company based in the neighborhood of Hintonburg, Ottawa at 102 Fairmont Avenue. We take a lot of pride that our Ice Cream and baked goods are made from scratch. We also operate two mobile food trucks for catered events.

For this position, you will be prepping ingredients such as brownies, toppings, sauces, hand packing pints of Ice Cream, assisting team members and spinning Ice Cream! This position works under the guidance of the production manager. This is the perfect position for someone who not only wants to learn the basics of Ice Cream Production, but also enjoys a busy summertime environment and is prepared to pitch in on all sorts of duties including labeling, packaging, cleaning, organizing, and updating inventory.

We are looking for an individual who loves food production and is curious about the science of Ice Cream and baking. Our team is passionate about quality food, quality ingredients, and community. The position begins in March and is approximately 35-40 hours per week based on a four or five-day workweek.

This person will:

• work closely with everyone within all levels of the Ice Cream Production
• label pint containers, pack pint containers which will include operating the Ice Cream machine for 6-8hours at a time and packing pints with layers of caramel, sauces, and swirls of fruit into fresh Ice Cream
• clean and sanitize workspace
• keep track of inventory and work with systems to manage inventory

We are looking for an individual who

• is curious
• has a strong work ethic, and integrity
• is available for some weekend work during summer peak season
• can work in a freezer
• respects safety and hygiene standards
• can lift 20-30 pounds, and 5-10 consistently
• can work in close proximity to others and
• can communicate clearly, and concisely
• is detail-orientated and can adapt to new systems
• has a valid Food Handlers certificate (or can complete upon hiring)
• likes a little bit of math!

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $17.00 per hour
