Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Inspection & Maintenance Tech (IMT).
Reporting to the FLM or Section Manager,
 the IMT performs non-destructive examinations and maintenance of equipment and facilities (NDE) using radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, surface, optical/visual or other methods. The IMT performs inspection using NDE techniques, of various pressure boundary components, welds and supports, lifting equipment and other equipment as designated using radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, surface, optical/visual or other methods, equipment mobilization, de-mobilization, and maintenance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 
-Perform non-destructive examinations (NDE) using radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, surface, optical/visual or other methods. Perform inspection using NDE techniques, of various pressure boundary components, welds and supports, lifting equipment and other equipment as designated using radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, surface, optical/visual or other methods.
-As directed, prepare detailed procedures and/or techniques necessary to outline the activities or steps required in:

-The performance of specific NDE and/or maintenance activities.
-The operation and calibration of equipment.
-The mobilization, demobilization, and maintenance of NDE inspection equipment including NDE tool delivery systems.
-The operation and maintenance of complex electromechanical equipment.
-Perform technical analysis of results under consideration applying certification qualification and knowledge of material science and industrial metallurgy. Analyze the results of NDE and prepare report of findings. Assist in the preparation of detailed inspection reports and visual aids for presentation.
-Operate, test, calibrate, repair, install /remove, troubleshoot, and maintain assigned electromechanical equipment and various specialized inspection and/or maintenance equipment.
-As directed, perform precision measurements on conventional and nuclear components, such as erosion of turbine blades, elongation of pressure tubes, sags of calandria and pressure tubes. Prepare graphs and charts where required representing findings and trends to Supervisor or requesting party.
-Perform maintenance on nuclear components including steam generator and heat exchanger tube plugging, removal and staking.
-Provide limited supervision to personnel assigned from time to time to assist in the performance of NDE or maintenance activities ensuring that the performance of examinations, interpretation of results and the preparation of reports is satisfactory and in accordance with specifications and standards.
-With general direction, specify or verify the applicable code or standard requirements for materials and for the joining of these by welding using applicable OPG approved welding procedures or authorized brazing method. Monitor welding activities and the welding records to confirm that correct welding procedures and techniques were employed including proper welding consumables and correct preheat and post-weld heat treatment. Perform the NDE necessary to confirm the integrity of resulting welds or joints using certification at Level II CGSB where appropriate.
-Perform mechanical testing and N.D.E. of welding and flared tube fittings, the evaluation of results of such examination, drawing interpretation, code interpretation, report writing.
-Perform inspections of irradiated / spent fuel bundles and components.
-Participate in training programs. Demonstrate to others within specialized fields specific methods of NDE and the operation of associated electromechanical equipment.
-Establish contact and working relationship with station technical, shift maintenance and operating units. Establish contact with personnel of other OPG departments and supply/service agencies as required to facilitate the performance of inspection and related activities.
-Plan, generate and review reports.
-Perform functions related to the work group, such as, work group communications, procedure writing and assessing.
-As directed by Supervisor, maintain a working knowledge of station system, work practice and procedures, codes, and regulations, and be aware of developments in the field of NDE through attendance at appropriate courses and lectures or through technical literature.
-Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, as per established technical/ operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating solutions to problems.
 
EDUCATION
-Grade 12 or equivalent, plus appropriate certifications in NDE of Canadian Welding Board (CWB) techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Canadian General Standards Board
Ticketed technician (RT2, UT2, MT2, or PT2)
-CWB Visual Welding Inspection Certification (CSA W178.2)
is an asset.
-Certified Exposure Device Operator (CEDO) certification preferred.
-Phase array experience is an asset.
-Knowledge of material science, industrial metallurgy, physics, chemistry, and industrial methodology related to the field of NDE to perform technical analysis of inspection results.
-Understanding of mechanical and electrical principles in order to operate and maintain complex electromechanical devices for NDE and precision measurement
-Ability to prepare detailed concise technical reports
-Ability to communicate effectively in the English language with others in the inspection and maintenance function.
