Job Summary:
We are seeking motivated & dedicated Paving/Pavement Maintenance Crew Members to join our team. As a Crew Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to Asphalt Paving & Pavement Maintenance in both Residential & Commercial settings. Your primary duties will include preparing surfaces for Asphalt Paving, operating some equipment under the supervision of experienced personnel, site clean-up, hand-tool handling, general labour duties, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. This is a flexible Position, offering both Full-Time & Part-Time Hours, both with opportunities for career growth and development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of work sites.
- Load & unload materials, tools & equipment as needed.
- Operate hand tools, shovels, rakes, and other equipment to distribute aggregate & asphalt materials.
- Operate various hand tools and equipment to facilitate Asphalt Maintenance Services.
- Assist in the installation of curbs, culverts, drains, and other paving-related structures.
- Ensure the safety of fellow workers and the public in and around work zones.
- Follow all Policies & Procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain cleanliness & organization of work areas, company vehicles & trailers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisors and/or Managers.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on vehicles & equipment.
- Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs and report any issues to the Supervisor/Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in Asphalt Paving/Pavement Maintenance, Landscaping or Construction is preferred, but not required.
- Preference given to those Applicants with a valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence with a Conviction-Free Driver's Abstract (minor Convictions will not exclude you from being considered).
- Knowledge of paving techniques and materials is a plus.
- Preference given to those holding Certification in Traffic Control (Flagger).
- Strong work ethic, with attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools & equipment.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform repetitive-maneuvers, including heavy-lifting, pushing/pulling, crouching, standing for long periods.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as required.
