Job description

Techmation Electric & Controls is searching for an InstrumentationManager for our Estevan branch. We require a dynamic and experienced Instrument Journeyman with previous management experience in the industrial sector. This person will have a continual focus on safety, cost control, client satisfaction and employee engagement.

Techmation works on a variety of Industrial Construction and Maintenance projects throughout Western Canada. You will have the opportunity to work on crucial projects with very reputable clients and have security in knowing there is continuous work.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Monitors costs, productivity, and scheduling associated with the branch and area operations
  • Participates in the recruitment of new employees
  • Monitors expenses, inventory, non-chargeable, and budget requirements in the branch on a monthly basis and reports to the Branch & Area Manager
  • Maximizes manpower and vehicle utilization within the branch and communicates regularly with other TECL locations
  • Participates in the ongoing evaluation and performance of employees
  • Ensures optimum utilization of labour, material and other resources at the branch level
  • Develop and maintain a network of professional relationships to foster new business development opportunities
  • Ensuresall TECL policies and procedures are communicated and implemented
  • Supervisesteams, with a focus on mentoring and coaching of employees for skill enhancement and quality of task execution
  • Ensure Techmation's Safety program is followed. Help maintain a high level of safety awareness and adherence in the position
  • Commits to the success of other teams as well as support of the senior management team
  • Examines new opportunities and relays information specifics to the Branch & Area Manager
  • Provides technical assistance and recommendations for proper operations
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, provincial and local regulations and standards
  • Attend and participate in all on site project meetings and document all meeting activities
  • Provide supervision and monitoring of construction schedules and coordination of onsite technical work from start up to check out, commissioning and final project acceptance
  • Create detailed project work plans by identifying the resources, equipment, and financing needed for the successful execution, progress, and completion of the project
  • Oversees the management of day-to-day operational aspects of the projects and scope of work

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Instrumentation certificate with minimum 5 years' experience in an industrial setting
  • Must have a strong knowledge in both electrical and instrumentation
  • Stronger customer service skills; formal training would be considered an asset
  • Excellent contract administration skills including the ability to review and execute the project based on the specific contract specifications
  • Candidates must have knowledge or past experience with:
    • Process control, and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.)
    • Strong knowledge of Fisher measurement products, specifically all models of ROC devices and software
    • Mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; remove and install small piping and tubing
    • Rebuild of control valves and tune controllers
    • Preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement and tests as required); field instrument records and standards
    • Process control
    • Working knowledge of applicable codes, procedures, policies, and regulations
    • Strong team development and leadership skills with change management experience.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong skills in the areas of team facilitation, collaboration, negotiation and influencing, process mapping, problem solving and creative solutions, stakeholder management and project management
    • Troubleshooting equipment and systems
    • Use of test equipment and hand tools
    • Using manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to test, construction, and maintain equipment
    • Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems (using pneumatic, electrical/electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments) to diagnose faults
  • Must have a flexible work schedule
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to address multiple conflicting priorities and responsibilities
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license (non GDL)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to present oneself in a professional manner and represent the company image
  • Pro-active and decisive personality
  • Is a strong advocate of a team-based environment
  • Candidates must have valid Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive & Fall Protection, Standard First Aid (Level A or C with CPR/AED), CSTS 2020 and Driving & Journey Management certificates

Preference will be given to those located in the Estevan area, however we will accept candidates willing to permanently relocate to the immediate area.
