  • Conduct Dutch Elm Disease vector surveillance, Monitor Insect biological control.     

  • Assist with trials on reduced-risk pest control products.

  • Assist with EDRR Program, mapping and identification and mechanical control of legislated invasive weed species.

  • Collect data and input information.

Working Conditions: This position is required to work outside in all types of weather conditions and in remote areas throughout Calgary.

 

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program in Biological or Environmental Sciences.

  • A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits is required.

  • Previous field work experience and/or basic familiarity with GPS systems and applications such as ArcGIS would be an asset.

  • Attention to details and customer focus, planning, organizing and coordination, result orientation, and personal accountability are required for success in this role.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2024

  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.

  • If invited to an interview, you will be asked to provide an unofficial transcript or an enrollment verification letter (indicating the program and year you are currently completing).

 
Pre-employment Drug Test:An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation: $27.16 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
