Intermediate Planner

Growing Professional Planning Consulting Firm

Belleville, Ontario

We are seeking an Intermediate Planner for our Client, a busy full-service Planning and Development Consulting firm located in Belleville, Ontario. The company provides professional planning expertise to the private and public sectors in rural, suburban and urban design for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial customers.

The City of Belleville is located on the north shore of the beautiful Bay of Quinte, located between Montreal and Toronto, just one hour from the US border. Only 171 km from Toronto on the 401, this area offers work/life balance for families looking for affordable housing, lots of activities, access to Via Rail, Loyalist College, and adjacent to Prince Edward County vineyards and renown beaches.

Candidates will have professional planning experience, ideally in the private sector. Candidates with municipal planning experience, or some combination of private and public experience would also be considered depending on the candidate’s experience and skills. This hybrid work position will cover South-Eastern Ontario including the counties of Northumberland, Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox & Addington and Frontenac. Some of the communities within these regions are: Kingston, Belleville, Trenton, Brighton, Cobourg, Port Hope, Peterborough, and Bancroft. · Engages in the work of a professional planning consultant, including project management, communication and meetings with clients, data collection, analysis, report writing, plan formulation, and implementation of a wide variety of land use planning tasks.

· Prepares complete and accurate planning applications.

· Interprets provincial, regional and municipal planning policy.

· Oversees, participates in, and co-ordinates planning and technical support studies.

· Prepares and presents planning applications to Planning Councils and Committees

· Provides direction to design staff on development plans and checks drawings.

· Co-ordinates planning activities with municipal departments and with outside agencies.

· Performs site inspections for projects.

· Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

· Accredited university degree in Urban Planning.

· RPP Designation or candidate and membership in OPPI.

· Minimum of 3 years of professional planning experience – development approvals and design-related experience an asset.

· Consulting experience an asset.

· Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

· Class “G” Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.

· Superior verbal and written communication abilities.

· Ability to travel to different sites and locations throughout south-eastern Ontario.

· Self-motivated, ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.

· Highly organized, with proven ability to multi-task and proactively manage competing priorities with tight deadlines.

· Attention to detail and ability to self-edit.
