Our client is a leading urban planning firm dedicated to creating sustainable and vibrant communities. Who specialize in providing a full range of urban planning services to the development industry. They have been responsible for the design and planning approval of over 80,000 residential units and over 1500 hectares (3,700 acres) of commercial, industrial, institutional and recreational uses.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our clients team as an Intermediate Urban Planner. In this role, you will work closely with senior planners to contribute to various urban planning projects. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in urban design, land use planning, and community development while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Guide the preparation of various types of land use plans including, but not limited to;
- -Development concept plans
- -Neighborhood plans
- -Draft plans of subdivision
- -Site plans
- Prepare and process a wide variety of development applications through to successful
- approvals including preparation of Planning Justification Reports, draft Official Plan
- Amendments, and draft Zoning By-law Amendments.
- Prepare for and attend meetings such as Public Information Sessions, Planning
- Committee, Council, and other jurisdictional committees, as required.
- Conduct research on such matters as Official Plans, zoning by-laws, municipal
- engineering, and parks standards.
- Liaise with clients, development consultants, government officials and the public.
Use of a vehicle will occasionally be required to visit sites and attend meetings with clients and municipal staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design.
- Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, land use regulations, and zoning codes.
- Proficiency in Ms Office, Indesign and other urban planning tools.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Prior experience or internship in urban planning or a related field is desirable.

It is the expectation that the Intermediate Urban Planner will already have or seek to obtain membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute within the shortest prescribed time frame from the date of hire.
