Job description

-JOB
SUMMARY
This job will entail applying concepts learned in analytical chemistry and/or molecular biology courses into practice, using instrumentation such as high-performance liquid chromatography and/or automated ligand binding assay platforms to execute method development under the direction of a mentor scientist. This position may also include categorization and filing of experimental reports and other key documents.
-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-Execute experiment protocols.  
-Become familiar with a variety of analytical / laboratory / research methodologies and techniques.
-Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.
-Adhere to all effective SOP’s and safety requirements.
-Other duties as assigned.
 
-MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
-3rd or 4th year student, working towards or recent completion of a university
-degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field of study (such as Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc.). 
-Competent in laboratory safety and generally accepted lab practice, including maintaining adequate written laboratory records.
-Able to communicate and articulate information in both written and verbal forms.
-Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.  
-Basic knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products is required.  
-Chromatography knowledge and ability to operate equipment, general knowledge of antibody structure and chemistry, ability to run analytical assays is an asset.
-The ability to make decisions using sound judgment.
-Must have strong attention to detail.
-Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic environment.
-Excellent written and verbal skills
-Ability to exercise judgment for defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
 
Successful completion of Emergent’s criminal background check is required.
