Blue Sky Hemp Ventures Ltd. currently has opening for an Inventory and Packaging Operator at our hemp and cannabis extracts facility in Saskatoon. The Inventory and Packaging Operator is a new position to take on bulk packaging and shipping in the extracts department, as part of our operations team. This new role builds on work by Extraction Operators, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement of processes, safety and productivity.

The key responsibility of the Inventory and Packaging Operator is the timely preparation of hemp and cannabis product for shipment. This includes product transfer, inspection, record-keeping, labelling, boxing, and dock shipment. Additional administrative duties include assisting the upkeep of cannabis and non-cannabis inventories. Additional operational duties include supporting shipping and receiving, preparing blends, and homogenization of product.

This is a full time permanent position, 8:30-4:30, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operation of scales, scoops, filters, heat blankets, and pouring or small-scale transfer pumps to measure and dispense product for bulk sale and bulk blending.
  • Maintain cleanliness and product quality through conscientious effort, including cleaning of work areas, containers, and equipment according to standard procedures.
  • Strict record-keeping of container weights, transfers, shipping, and receiving, on labels, forms, spreadsheets and ERP software.
  • Calculation of losses, and destruction of waste according to Health Canada guidelines.
  • Boxing or palletizing of bulk containers for courier and carrier shipment.
  • Operation of scales, mixers, hot plates, blend reactors, filters, and small-scale transfer pumps according to procedures and work instructions to create specified blends or homogenized product output.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Extracts Operations team in a shared space and with a shared inventory.
  • Assist the Director of Extracts Operations with inventory upkeep, organization, and counting.
  • Assist the Logistics Coordinator with shipping and receiving during busy periods.
  • Communicate and work with the Order Fulfillment, Logistics, Sales, and Quality Assurance personnel to meet shipping deadlines, maintain product quality, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere and maintain compliance to all Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Required Skills, Training & Experience

  • Strong proofreading, attention to detail, and meticulousness is required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret SOP’s related to food or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Computer and spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel) skills are required. Ability to use ERP software and to navigate complex spreadsheets.
  • Reasonable physical fitness such that you can stand and/or walk for significant periods of a shift, and lift or manipulate bulk containers of product up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with cannabis processing is an asset
  • Forklift and pallet picker experience is an asset
  • Acceptable results to a Criminal Record Check

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
