Position Summary

The Inventory Control Associate is responsible for inspecting perishable products at receipt and/or prior to being shipped to our customers to ensure quality and food safety standards are met. The Inventory Control Associate also monitors the cleanliness and condition of the warehouse and coolers to ensure compliance to GMP, and food safety standards.

This role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor, Senior Operations Manager, and Inventory Control Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for visually and physically checking product condition daily to ensure products staged for shipping or at receipt are free from contaminants, and/or quality defects.
  • Generate 10-day LOT report to investigate and reports for any spoilage.
  • Champion implementation of Quality Assurance app to provide real-time visibility to condition of high value items.
  • Create and maintain a detailed and accurate report of inspection results, including taking pictures and communicating inspection results to all appropriate personnel.
  • Reject unacceptable products, and initiate corrective action including notifying buyers and/or sales.
  • Work with warehouse and production staff to ensure proper rotation of inventory and assist in the reduction of produce waste.
  • Utilize Inventory Control software to monitor and adjust inventory levels.
  • Count physical inventory levels and compare them with the inventory system.
  • Analyze inventory reports to identify trends and areas of concern.
  • Identify problem areas in the flow of inventory throughout the warehouse and both companies.
  • Review work orders, transfers, purchase orders, sales orders, and other factors that affect inventory levels to track trends and problems.
  • Assist in customer returns and quality credits to customers.
  • Oversee product quality for certain key clients and ensure client specific expectations are met and maintained.
  • Read and thoroughly understand and be familiar with all product specifications, and client expectations.
  • Perform other Inventory Control related duties as assigned to support upstream and downstream functions.

Requirements

  • 1 year of work experience in a quality control role in food or related industry would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Basic computer literacy skills in MS Office.
  • Strong logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Be well organized & able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs if needed.
  • Able to work in cold temperature environment from 2°C for an extended period of time.
  • Forklift license preferred but not required.

Working Days & Hours

· Monday - Friday from 7:00AM – 3:00PM. Hours worked per day may fluctuate depending on business needs.
