Job Summary

Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) is the lead governance organization for the financial management function in the BC Government. OCG's strategic objectives include setting the strategic direction for government's financial management functions including frameworks, systems and people and ensuring an effective corporate governance framework that supports the delivery of government programs and ensures accountability.
The Corporate Accounting Services (CAS) supports the Comptroller General in meeting their broad statutory responsibilities by managing the design, development, delivery and ongoing support for the mission-critical corporate financial system for the Province of BC. Working in a collaborative, open environment of rapidly changing technology and business processes, CAS requires your enthusiasm and knowledge to ensure our clients are provided with the right solutions for their business needs.
The Project Manager/TeamBusiness Analyst provides project management leadership, business analysis/consulting services and plans ongoing business and technology needs consistent with Government and Ministry strategic plans, system standards and interfacing requirements of other ministries and agencies. This role functions as a project manager, senior level specialist, directing strategies and standards to be followed by other IT staff.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field and three (3) years of *related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Computer Science, Business, or a related field and five (5) years of *related experience; OR
  • Certification in Project Management and seven (7) years of *related experience.
*Related experience must include a combination of all of the following:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience directing and leading project teams to deliver major projects that involve overseeing sub-projects and/or multiple delivery components (e.g. governance, operations, customer service delivery) in accordance with project management standards.
  • Experience managing a project team of diverse individuals and partners.
  • Relevant experience with either Enterprise Resource Planning systems or Financial Systems.
  • Relevant experience working with large external vendors.
  • Experience with Business Analysis in a complex technology environment to support system application changes or improvements relating to corporate information technology projects.
  • Experience building and actively managing relationships with clients, partners, and interested parties.
Preference may be given to candidates with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Project Management Professional Designation.
  • Degree, designation or equivalent in accounting or a related field.
  • Experience using the Oracle Financials System and Data Warehouse.
  • Experience in assessing or advising financial controls and risks for a complex financial system.
