About the Position
Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to join us on our hospital’s IT strategic plan and roadmap journey. Reporting to and working closely with the Information Technology Manager, the IT Project Coordinator will effectively organize and balance our internal projects, business, and clinical application initiatives to ensure milestones are met.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the digital transformation of Norfolk General Hospital and our affiliate West Haldimand General Hospital, driving innovation in technology with focus towards increasing an intuitive workflow for staff and providing a comfortable patient experience.

Your will actively engage in a wide range of redevelopment, system upgrades and regionally driven initiatives which vary in size and complexity. You will adapt your skillset to coordinate and oversee the completion of these projects effectively and efficiently from conception to post-completion support. Working with stakeholders internally and externally you will ensure that everyone is well-informed of status throughout the process and is aware of the hospitals priorities and dependencies when it comes to the planning of further projects. Your ability to multi-task, attention to detail, clear communication in addition to your knowledge of information technology, mastering of change management and ability to build and foster healthy relationships will be a large contribution to the success of our journey.
Requirements:
- University degree or college diploma in computer science, engineering or business
- Certification such as PMP or equivalent
- Experience with the successful delivery of IT projects in the role of Project Coordinator/Manager
- A thorough understanding of IT Project Management methodologies with the ability to adapt based on the needs and requirements of each project
- Experience with Clinical Applications and Health Information Systems and as well as working on-site in a Healthcare setting
- Exposure, knowledge and experience with IT Infrastructure Architecture, Microsoft 365
- Solid leadership skills—able to be both the teacher and the learner to stakeholders when it comes to project coordination and the methodologies used
- Strong organizational skills – the ability to effectively and quickly prioritize short- and long-term tasks
- Ability to effectively multitask – several active projects including forecasting upcoming initiatives
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to conduct research into IT systems and products as required.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to present intricate and complex reports in plain English
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly terminology.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and act.
Position Requirements
- Lead coordination of IT core and IT-dependent clinical and administrative projects following from approval state through project execution and final project closure.
- Work independently and with the IT Manager and/or key stakeholders to develop detailed work plans, schedules, cost estimates, resource plans and status reports.
- Adhere to and help develop Cyber security best practices and governance policies.
- Attending IT and organizational project planning meetings to assist in the approval and time frame allotment for new projects against existing initiatives.
- Balance the workload, assignments and availability of internal IT SME’s and resources for existing and new project proposals against the hospital’s priorities and strategic plan.
- Liaise between the project team resources with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary; coordinate the allocation of resources with appropriate timing.
- Escalate issues and risks that may threaten project budgets, schedules and the quality of project deliverables using ITIL and Project Management best practices.
- Able to apply yourself in all areas of the project execution and be creative with solutions to meet project goals, milestones, and timelines.
- Conduct project meetings and be responsible for project tracking, analysis, and reports.
- Deliver project roadmaps in a clearly articulated manner.
- Collect and organize all documents (technical, financial, etc.) for the project and ensure the document package is complete and available or archived appropriately at the close of the project.
- Creates an environment that promotes and supports safe, effective, and ethical practice.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration and communication to enforce familiarity and understanding of our roles and responsibilities.
- Facilitate a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment to create a positive and productive group.

Located in Simcoe, Ontario, Norfolk General Hospital provides exceptional healthcare to a municipality of approximately 69,000 people. Our area of focus provides a continuum of service throughout the life span of the people we serve including Emergency, Critical Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Medicine, Surgery, and Complex Continuing Care. Employing approximately 550 highly skilled and dedicated employees, Norfolk General Hospital is a full service 106-bed hospital with round the clock on-call coverage of Specialists in Surgery, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics, as well as on-site 24 hour per day medical coverage.
Simcoe is less than one hour away from most major centers, including Hamilton and London, and only 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area. Situated in Norfolk County (Ontario’s South Coast), Simcoe is not far from Lake Erie and the 140 kilometers of shoreline that include long stretches of sandy beach.
Hours of Work: Primary: Monday to Friday, but must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as required.
