ABOUT THE ROLE 
TransAlta is currently seeking a full-time IT
Solution Architect, to join our dynamic Information Technology team.
The IT Solution Architect will design, develop, and implement IT systems that meet the needs and goals of TransAlta. They will collaborate with stakeholders and developers to understand the business requirements, technical specifications, and constraints of each project. Ensure IT solutions are aligned with the best practices, standards, and policies of the industry and the organization.
This role is based out of our new Head Office in Downtown Calgary,
with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.
WHAT YOU WILL DO  
-Define and document the IT Solution Architecture, including the technical, functional, and non-functional aspects.
-Provide technical guidance and leadership to the development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
-Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand the business requirements and objectives.
-Select and evaluate the appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to meet the project needs and align with the IT/Business strategy and standards.
-Design and implement the IT solution components, such as databases, applications, integrations, security, and infrastructure.
-Provide guidance and support to the development, testing, and deployment teams throughout the project lifecycle.
-Ensure the quality, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability of the IT solution.
-Monitor and troubleshoot the IT solution issues and provide root cause analysis and resolution.
-Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the IT team and foster a collaborative and agile culture.
 
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU  
-A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
-At least 10 years of proven experience as an IT Solution Architect, IT consultant, or a similar role.
-Strong knowledge and expertise in various IT domains, such as software development, cloud computing, web services, databases, networking, security, and infrastructure.
-Proficient in using various programming languages, frameworks, and tools, such as Java, JavaScript, .NET, SQL, Azure DevOps, etc.
-Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with different audiences and stakeholders.
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to design and implement IT solutions that meet the business needs and goals.
-Highly creative, innovative, and adaptable to changing environments and requirements.
-Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
-Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
-Willing to learn new skills and technologies and keep up with the IT industry.
