Job Profile and Description:

A Journeyman Painter maintains and finishes any kind of painting related jobs, both interior and exterior surfaces. The expectation is that they act in accordance with the trade guidelines in a respectful and professional manner. They use a wide range of applications, materials and techniques to fulfill this purpose. They demonstrate the ability to perform on both commercial and residential painting job sites with emphasis on proper housekeeping and a finished product of the highest quality. Compliance with Minerva Painting and Decorating safety policies and procedures is a necessity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Skills including brushing, rolling, spray painting and other duties related to the trade; the maintenance of spray equipment and all other relevant painters’ tools.
• Other skills include wood finishing, staining, varnishing and lacquering. The ability to install wallpaper is considered an asset.Other assets would be spraying texture, multicolored paint and faux finishing.
• The painter must know how to prepare surfaces to receive a final finish, including wall patching, skim coating and drywall taping.
• Should have proper understanding on colour adjustment or combination.
• To use all required personal protective equipment as defined by law and Minerva Painting policies.
• The knowledge and training to work from aerial lift platforms, scaffolding and ladders.
• The knowledge and training in the handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
• Proper documentation related to job cards and timesheets is imperative.
• Must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively with our team, contractors and other sub-trades with special emphasis on safe work practices.
• Must be reliable and trustworthy and work in a manner that is congruent with Minerva Painting practices and reputation of uncompromised quality.

Education and Qualifications:

• Understanding and knowledge of English language is preferable.
• On-the-Job Training as a painter as demonstrated by resume, references and education.
• Qualification gained through an apprentice program emphasizing intensive practice and theory.
• Must possess a valid Class 5 drivers license.
• Training related to fall protection, aerial lift platforms, boom lifts, WHMIS and first aid will be provided if painter is not certified.

Salary: $20.00 to $30.00 /hour
