ENWIN Utilities Ltd., is currently accepting applications for the position of
Journeyperson or Apprentice Water Meter Repair
($31.40 - $34.89hr)
Reporting to the Supervisor Meter Shop (Water), the successful applicant for this position will be the key subject matter expert with responsibilities that include troubleshooting Water Meter issues and lost revenue, providing essential customer services, enforcing WUC's regulatory requirements, abiding by ENWIN policies and procedures, reporting stock levels. The duties include but are not limited: to installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, cleaning, inspecting and removing of all Water Meters and their components, ensuring the safe, proper, and accurate registration of all Water Meters and their components. The Water Meter Repair person is responsible for installations in various locations and sites which include but is not limited to confined spaces, basements, pits, and mechanical rooms for existing sites, new construction, upgrades, additions, repairs and demolitions; ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and ready to be processed including completing worksite assessments (tailboards), inventory transactions, and work service orders. The Water Meter Repair will be required to utilize various pieces of equipment and software to perform their daily duties.
The hours of work for this position are 7:30am - 3:30pm.
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School diploma.
- Minimum three (3) years' related experience.
- 306A Plumbing Certificate of Qualification and/or 800A Water Meter Installer certificate is considered an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Experience providing quality customer service in a variety of challenging circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.
- Experience working with computers, tablets, and any other required devices including using various software's and any other related test equipment.
- Valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's License.
The Water Meter Repair position involves successful completion of an 8,000-hour training program. The successful candidate will be expected to complete all training objectives successfully. Duties will become progressively greater with each phase of practical experience and training. Progression within the classification will depend on satisfactory performance on the job and successful completion of the Water Meter Repair training objectives. An employee, following an application process, may be provided advanced standing in the 8,000-hour training program in recognition of directly related experience and qualifications.
