Working under the direction of the Manager of Museum and Archives, the Elgin County Museum has a contract position available to assist with on-going review of the existing collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review of artifacts relative to the museum’s mandate and acquisition policies with recommendations regarding future retention or deaccessioning.
- Review of database entries and donor records.
- Conservation / preservation assessments with recommendations regarding storage methods.
Salary: $24.00 per hour; 1,000 total hours to be worked
Effective: April 9, 2024 to December 20, 2024
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary degree required, with advanced training in museum curatorial practices and methods at the post-secondary level.
- Previous museum experience, including collection management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated research and writing ability.
