Junior Planner

Your New Role

Fotenn is looking to hire two Junior Planners. One position will be based out of our Ottawa office, and one position based out of either our Kingston or Toronto office.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects in all areas of development and policy planning. These areas include development applications, Official Plan and Zoning By-law review, site planning, and design, master planning, visioning, streetscape design, sustainable community design, urban design analysis, preparation of design documents, research, and report writing. As key contributing members of the Fotenn team, our Planners work closely with members of the Fotenn team at all levels to allow for professional growth and successful outcomes from the work performed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate and/or Master’s level university degree in urban planning;

• Experience in the field of urban planning is an asset;

• Practical understanding of municipal land use planning systems and policies;

• Good knowledge of land development practices;

• Initiative, independence, and strong problem-solving skills;

• Strong technical writing skills, including planning rationales, policy documents, etc.;

• Comfortable and confident liaising with clients, municipal departments, and review agencies;

• Ability to coordinate a range of complicated development applications within medium to large municipalities

• Excellent English written and oral communication and presentation skills;

• Bilingualism for Fotenn's Ottawa Locations

Assets:

• Bilingual is an asset for our Kingston and Toronto locations

• Membership in, or on the path to obtain, CIP/OPPI certification;

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Located in the Ottawa Region and/or knowledge of Ottawa municipalities.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $43,065.18-$74,945.35 per year
