The Canadian Mental Health Association (Saskatchewan Division) Inc. invites applications for the position of Justice Community Support Worker III. If you have a strong interest in working with and being a positive role model for at risk adult offenders in the community.
The Justice Community Support Worker (JCSW) assists people in the community who have been identified as high risk to reoffend (through the Serious Violent Offenders Response) who also possess a mental health barrier to the successful completion of their probation order.
The JCSW works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to help guide the best possible outcomes for our clients. As a JCSW you will participate in discussion with the other team members in the Serious Violent Offenders Response around client and community safety.
The JCSW is a critical link between the resources offered in our community and the clients that we serve. As a JCSW you will make and maintain positive working relationships with a multitude of community stakeholder and service providers.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of mental health and addictions systems, theories, intervention strategies, indicators and dynamics of addictions, domestic violence, poverty, disabilities, family relationships, abuse, neglect and their impacts, in the criminal justice system.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal skills, the ability to engage resistant individuals, the ability to accurately assess, develop and adjust case, treatment and intervention plans based on client needs.
Typically, the knowledge and skill set needed to successfully meet the requirements of this position come from the completion of a degree in the Human Services (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work), or Psychiatric Nursing and experience in community based service delivery. A combination of other relevant education and experience may also be considered.
