L1 Shipper
Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Shipping, the L1 Shipper is responsible for package, pallet, crate, load, and secure transformers and all other products for shipping domestically and internationally, under supervision and guidance.
Role Responsibilities:
- Preparing transformers and other products for shipping
- Preparing the transformer and accessories for shipping as per as per work instructions and procedures
- Safely operating forklift, hoisting, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods
- Palletizing, crating and packing parts for shipment in a manner that will avoid in-transit damage
- Assisting with the calculation of the most efficient method to load trailers based on weights, sizes, regulations, and all safety concerns
- Assisting with the preparation of railcar and trailers prior to loading
- Assisting with setting up and reading impact recorder
- Ensuring PCR book is signed and filled out in accordance with PTI Quality standards.
- Ensuring that tasks are executed safely, following all safety protocols and procedures to protect the employees, equipment and the transformer.
- Utilizing effective time management to meet production deadlines.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a team environment
- Basic Knowledge of hand and power tool use
- Ability to perform measurement and weight calculations correctly without supervision in both metric and imperial dimensions
- Ability to convert from Pounds to Kilograms
- Basic mathematics knowledge. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to learn how to operate warehouse machinery, including but not limited to forklift, crane and dangerous goods certification
- Ability to use safely all shipping tools and equipment
- Experience working in construction, carpentry or manufacturing environment is an asset
- Experience operating overhead crane and forklift is an asset
