Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent. Participates in continuing education and training to maintain current knowledge. Must be eligible for CMLTA registration within 12 months of date of hire. You are also required to perform Mobile collections as required. Demonstrates excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations. Maintains professionalism at all times. Performs repetitive duties efficiently and accurately. Recognizes and assists patients in distress. Recognizes and responds effectively and appropriately to an emergency. Knowledgeable of medical terminology, basic computer and keyboarding skills. Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours of work and location and changes in procedures. Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and professionally.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent phlebotomy and ECG experience is an asset.
