Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.
Please note: These positions are reserved for Inuit Land Claim Beneficiary candidates.
This is a term, Unionized position. The candidate must be comfortable working in colder climates. All travel to/from site, including board and meals, is provided. Complete additional training, as required.
Scope:
Labourers are responsible for day-to-day maintenance tasks for the assigned Project or other possible responsibilities.
Possible Responsibilities:
- Loading and unloading of cargo, materials, supplies and equipment
- Shoveling, snow removal
- Assisting other trades onsite
- General site maintenance, including assisting in maintaining an orderly worksite
- Painting and light maintenance
- Fueling vehicles
- Running errands, processing deliveries
- Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Knowledge of basic safety regulations
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to perform physical job functions in all weather conditions (able to lift 50 lbs)
- Strong communication skills
- Previous related experience considered an asset
