Become a valued member of our Maintenance crew, assisting in maintaining our client's gardens and Lawns. Most gardens are country residential properties, varying in size and design and the standard of landscape care is exceptional.
The Maintenance crew is responsible for all aspects of Spring / Fall clean up and regular maintenance of gardens/lawns as well as assisting the landscape crew.
Some task are including but not limited to the following:
- Garden plant identification
- Weeding & cultivating flower beds
- Edging flower beds
- Pest identification and management
- Pruning, deadheading, staking and dividing plants
- Planting and maintenance of annuals in gardens and containers
- Safely operating a leaf blower
- Correct use of all hand tools
- Planting perennials and shrubs in new landscapes
- Watering & fertilizing gardens
- Planting flower bulbs
- Spreading topsoil and mulch
- Daily report writing
- Basic equipment and vehicle maintenance
- Use of Lawn care equipment ( such as zero turn, trimmers, edgers)
The successful applicant will:
- Possess a passion for gardening, physical work and working outdoors with nature
- Be physically fit and energetic with great work ethic. Able to lift, bend and carry effectively. Able to walk for long periods. Able to be active all day
- Possess superior attention to detail skills
- Be willing to listen, learn, follow direction and accept constructive criticism from crew leader
- Be willing and able to work outside in all weather
- Enjoy working as part of an efficient, professional and collaborative team
- Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to connect positively with other crew members
- Be able to keep detailed site records
- Look forward to returning to this seasonal position each year, in order to build on skills and seniority
Job Type
- Seasonal work, early April to mid-November
- Full days, 8.15am to 5pm, 5 days a week - Monday to Friday.
Healthy and safe workplace
- CSA approved steel toed boots required. All other safety equipment supplied. Uniforms provided at no cost
- No smoking in vehicles
- Fit to Work policy in place
- Covid health and safety procedures in place as required
Location
- You must have your own, reliable transport to get to our farm base each morning
- We are not accessible by public transport
- Please only apply if you are willing and able to commute to our location
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Clean G or G2 drivers license preferred but not essential
- Previous experience working with plants, farm work or outdoors in any physical job an asset but not essential. We are happy to train a willing and keen person.
