**This position is a term position ending July 17, 2024 - subject to end with 2 weeks/1 pay period notice, whichever is longer**


Position Summary and Scope of Service:

The Receiver, Laundry Services provides services in accordance with the Mission and Values of St.Amant, the goals and objectives of Corporate Resource Services, the policies and procedures of Environmental Services. The incumbent promotes a customer focus in the provision of indirect services to St.Amant clients, visitors and customers.

The Receiver, Laundry Services is responsible for working collaboratively with the Supervisor, Environmental Services and the Manager, Facilities & Environmental Services to ensure all areas of St.Amant are provided with clean linens in quantities to meet their daily requirements, maintaining high standards of sanitation and provides services that are timely, consistent and professional.

Qualifications:

Educational:

  • Minimum Grade XII (or G.E.D.)
  • Previous experience in a linen/laundry operation is an asset

Professional:

  • Experience in exposure to chemical substances, moisture, odor, grime and interruptions (may be exposed to inadequate lighting, dust, heat, noise, infectious disease and cold or hot temperature)
  • Ability to comply with St.Amant dress code, shoe policy and sanitation policies and to maintain personal appearance and cleanliness

Personal:

  • Proficiency in English that includes the ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to follow written and oral in a precise and conscientious manner
  • Ability to adjust work schedules to work around the needs of clients and staff
  • Ability to comply with policies and regulations regarding the use of personal protective equipment and safe work procedures
  • Energetic, self-directed, client-focused
  • Fine motor skills to handle equipment and supplies
  • Must function effectively as a team member and demonstrate a strong collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and as part of the team

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of the position , in good health and able to maintain a satisfactory attendance record as this position involves walking, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, lifting, carrying/pushing and/or moving moderately heavy weights
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to push full linen carts and to change drums of chemicals

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects soiled or clean linen from program/service areas in a timely basis
  • Checks linen carts to ensure quantities of linen and types of linen meet the needs of the programs/service areas
  • Monitors usage of linens and informs Supervisor, Environmental Services or designate when changes are required on cart stock lists
  • Assists to load all linen delivery carts
  • Sorts soiled linens and prepares for wash
  • Weighs all soiled linens prior to washing and maintains records
  • Delivers soiled linens to laundry
  • Loads and unloads washers and dryers
  • Changes chemical barrels and notifies Supervisor, Environmental Services in the event of low stock levels
  • In the absence of the Supervisor, Environmental Services, records chemicals on hand and completes chemical order form
  • Ensures that all laundry equipment is in good working order
  • Notifies the Supervisor, Environmental Services or their designate, when equipment needs repair
  • Processes uniforms through garment finisher
  • Keeps machinery and carts clean and disinfects carts daily
  • Helps with folding of linens as time permits or when required
  • Restocks disposable diapers in designated areas
  • Keeps linen carts and covers clean
  • Keeps work area neat and tidy, sweeps and washes laundry floor
  • Folds all linens processed by laundry and in between cart deliveries
  • Checks linen for stains and identifies items that require rewashing or ragging
  • Assists to load all linen delivery carts
  • Delivers linen carts/linen to user areas
  • Keeps work area neat and tidy including wiping shelves and sweeping floors

As a Condition of Employment, new hires must complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases.
