As a Lead-Coordinator, Transit Public Safety Implementation with Emergency Management & Community Safety (EMCS), you will supervise a team of Business Strategists within Business Improvement, Optimization Services. You will provide oversight for the strategic implementation of the high priority safety initiatives including projects and programs. You will provide guidance to the team to foster the development of strategies including performance metrics, outcomes and connection to the broader Public Safety strategies. Primary duties include:

  • Lead the implementation of a complex, city-shaping, Public Safety project.

  • Manage program delivery in support of the Transit Public Safety Strategy, including oversight for Staff Well-being, Station Infrastructure and Connecting to Community. 

  • Lead a progressive team to implement the Council-approved Transit Public Safety Strategy. 

  • Work in close coordination and partnership with Public Vehicle Standards, Emergency Management / 9-1-1, EMCS as well as Calgary Transit, Community Services, and partners including the Calgary Police Service.

  • Accountable for the coordinated delivery of priority programs, projects and initiatives for Transit Public Safety in support of Public Safety across EMCS.

  • Plan, track and report on key initiatives, programs, and projects.

  • Provide direction and guidance on the approach for strategy development and management of initiatives.

  • Develop and report on performance measures within the strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with City of Calgary policies and legislation and other departmental and business unit initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with operational teams to facilitate effective program delivery and implementation of critical processes.

  • Conduct hiring, training, performance evaluation and coach direct reports in developing approaches to identify and resolve issues, analyze materials, and respond to emerging opportunities. 

  • Report on mid-year, year-end and One Calgary budgets.


     
 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Business, Social Science, Management, Economics, or a related field and at least 8 years of experience in strategic planning, business planning, engagement, and performance measurement.

  • Preference will be given to applicants with at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role leading a project or team supporting cultural change.

  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

  • Experience in policy development in a public sector environment, research, analysis, performance measurement, management consulting, project management, process improvement or related experience in public sector work is required.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and experience with Microsoft Power BI is required.

  • The ability to produce advanced presentation and written materials.

  • You demonstrate strategic leadership, excellent communication skills, the ability to build strong professional relationships, critical thinking, and political acumen.

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
