In the role of Lead Engineer Electrical, you will have varied tasks, such as electrical design and calculations in tenders and projects, combined with leadership and coordination of other engineers within the project team and subcontractors on-site. You will become a part of ABB Energy Industries within ABB's Process Automation business area, serving customers in the heat, water, nuclear power, pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries in Sweden and the Nordic region. This position is based in our office in Västerås, you’ll be reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Your responsibilities

  • As a Lead Engineer, you are responsible for technical coordination internally and externally, participating in all project phases from sales support and concept to commissioning and aftermarket support.
  • You participate in project deliveries with the project team, involving tasks ranging from feasibility studies, system and detailed design of, among others, switchgear (medium and low voltage), relay protection, UPS, drive systems, and control panels, documentation and testing, as well as commissioning of individual components and systems.
  • You ensure that the technical delivery is carried out in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements, as well as cost-effectively and according to schedule, and may act as a reviewer for other colleagues.
  • You closely collaborate with our customers together with the project manager, participating in project and technical meetings, as well as site visits.
  • You can support proposal engineers and salespeople with your technical expertise in electrical and plant design in the development of new tenders to ensure the technical delivery.

Your background

  • We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in electrical and/or plant design or industrial power engineering/plant.
  • You have an interest in products and their interaction in solutions and can specify needs for these.
  • You are a driven individual who thrives in a leadership role, is self-reliant, and takes responsibility and initiatives.
  • You have an understanding of customer processes, and as a person, you focus on the customer with the ability to build good relationships both internally and externally.
  • If you have worked with control systems from I/O to field/plant, it is a merit.
  • You communicate fluently in both Swedish and English.
  • You have a B driver's license as business travel is involved.
  • You share ABB's fundamental values regarding safety and integrity, meaning you take responsibility for your own actions while feeling responsible for your colleagues and the business.
