The Technology Regulation and iGaming Compliance Branch (TRCB) is seeking a Lead, Technical Writer (Technology Risksand Standards), who will be responsible for the identification of regulatory risks pertaining to games and gaming technology, as well as the development and revision of standards to mitigate the identified risks.
What can I expect to do in this role?
The successful candidate will:- Develop new or update existing game and gaming technology standards necessary to address associated regulatory risks.
- Continually assess game and gaming technology standards and implement a data-centric approach to identify needed improvements to maintain high quality and mitigate newly identified risks.
- Critically assess proposed solutions from Operators and Gaming-Related Suppliers to identify risks and vulnerabilities, provide opinions on the integrity of the solution, and appropriate game and gaming technology standards.
- Create and maintain a program to identify and validate risks pertaining to regulated to gaming technology.
- Be integral in creating and maintaining a research and innovation program and identify key performance indicators that will establish the success of such program.
- Keep abreast of best practices across regulated gaming jurisdictions and technical industries to identify relevant practices.
- Develop, communicate, and execute project plans for risk identification.
- Assist with assessment of games, gaming-related technology, gaming compliance activities, and other branch projects/assignments as needed.
- Address standards interpretation requests from stakeholders. Provide clear feedback, and discuss and document the results.
- Engage and collaborate with subject matter experts to gather their perspectives.
- Oversee the work performed by others.
How do I qualify?
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Computer/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Policy Development or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.
- Superior writing proficiency to produce technical documentation/standards that is concise, unambiguous, and easy to understand.
- In-depth knowledge of games as well as computerized software and electronics technology.
- Excellent knowledge of risk analysis, application and IT security.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with tight deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of project management, auditing, and process engineering.
- Experience with data analysis is an asset.
- Well-developed communication skills; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
