Line Cook / Bakery Helper

Job Overview:
We are looking for a Line Cook / Bakery Helper, preferably with experience in preparing in-house items and fresh meals to-go.

This is a full-time position. Salary will be based on experience and will include shared tips. You can expect an upbeat and supportive work environment. We are looking for someone who works well in a team, has a great work ethic, enjoys a fast-paced environment, appreciates healthy local food, and doesn’t mind taking on a wide range of tasks.

Duties:
- preparation of daily soups,

- preparation of the ingredients for wraps and sandwiches and to-go items,

- preparation of fresh salads using a range of local seasonal produce and the occasional

- preparation of catering items or specialty items as required. As well, the Line Cook / Bakery

- helper with prepare and serving our limited-menu weekend brunch.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for morning set-up and end-of-day clean-up and breakdown of the kitchen and dining area, as well as maintaining an inventory of goods produced and items needed to keep the kitchen running efficiently.

Requirements:
- Previous experience in a bakery or food preparation setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to follow recipes accurately
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Basic kitchen skills from safe food handling, use of commercial stove, oven and food processors, to knife skills will all be taught.

Chicory Blue will cover the cost of obtaining NS Food Safe certification, if the successful candidate does not already have it.
