Job description

Reporting to the Director of Logistics, The Manager of LogisticsOperations reports to the Director of Logistics and is responsible for the planning, execution and oversight of internal grounds support maintenance, heavy equipment and commercial fleet operations as well as external commercial carrier transportation activities.

Management oversight consists of approximately 120 staff comprised of qualified equipment/vehicle operators, support staff who maintain grounds care, as well as the supervisory staff with accountabilities for day-to-day activities.

What will you be doing !

FUNCTION 1: Planning, Development, Operations, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement of Site Operations
1. Ensure that staff performing work are competent to do so, work controls and operating procedures are in place to deliver services safely and efficiently in accordance with the service level expectations and regulatory requirements.
2. Ensure the efficient operational requirements to complete the loading and unloading, load securement, shipment and receiving execution, shipment tracking and records/filing system where transportation of CNL radioactive, hazardous waste or other dangerous goods is involved.
3. Coordinate with CRL user groups to ensure that resource requirements are planned in accordance with Program delivery requirements.
4. Establish and maintain a strong and effective customer relationship.
5. Manage fleet activities including the provision of day-to-day direction, guidance and support, planning, and evaluation of objectives for all tooling and equipment for CRL.
6. Customer client for all CNL motor carriers and waste and spent fuel transportation service providers.
7. Ensure that security arrangements are in place for CNL transportation including transportation security and security technologies for commercial carriers.
8. Prioritize, schedule, and assign work for designated groups.
9. Actively participate in short- and long-range operational planning with various departments for CRL.
10. Assist Managers, Program Managers, and project leaders with estimates for resources and completing project oversight plans.
11. Implement and oversee a maintenance program to ensure equipment uptime is maximized.
12. Lead procurements for new equipment, based on needs identified by specific projects or through resource planning.
13. Provide management oversight to deliver results in line with the department’s goals.
14. Oversee quality assurance within the department and/or large projects and adherence to procedures and policies.
15. Proactively identify staffing needs, seeks appropriate approvals to adjust staffing levels as appropriate, outlines position requirements and performs regular reviews to ensure staffing needs meet the needs of the project.

FUNCTION 2: People Development and Employee Engagement

7. Manage performance by setting goals aligned with CNL’s priorities, providing support, and coaching, and holding individuals accountable.
8. Support team members in creating and implementing personalized development plans, proactively seeking developmental opportunities throughout the organization.

FUNCTION 3: Safety
1. Ensure all team members use applicable safety equipment and adhere to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization.
2. Establish a safe work environment and ensure safety is paramount in all activities.
3. Ensure all safety management programs are followed.
What we are looking for :


Experience:

  • 5-10 years of construction and/fleet equipment operations.
  • 5-10 years of experience managing 3rd party commercial carrier transport.
  • 5-10 years of experience relating to Environmental considerations relating to the scope of the role.
  • Seasoned managerial experience in a highly unionized environment.
  • Experience in developing, forecasting, and managing annual operational budgets relevant to the scope of the role ranging between 2-5m.

Education:

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
