The Ministry of Forests is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources. The Ministry manages these resources in a manner that embraces economic, environmental and social goals of government.
This job profile reports to an LSO 4 Designated Professional Engineer, and is focused on providing seasoned professional services including design works in the assigned area of operation. This job requires a licensed professional Engineer depending on the job requirements and may be focused on bridge and road engineering services. The position has a strong requirement for the ability to make judgement based on knowledge gained through considerable engineering experience in the Natural Resource Sector.

Job Requirements:
  • Degree in forest engineering, civil engineering , or other related disciplines as recognized by the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of BC (EGBC)
  • Must be registered, or immediately* eligible for registration as a fully licensed Professional Engineer with Engineers & Geoscientists of BC (the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of BC). *Immediately means you are currently a fully licensed registered Professional Engineer member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to APEGBC.
  • Experience in project management of infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
  • Experience acting as a coordinating registered professional and/or professional of record on a variety of resource sector projects.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Three (3) years of current, directly related experience with resource road construction or deactivation practices.
  • Five (5) years recent (within the last ten (10) years) experience in Natural Resource Management, Resource Road Engineering and/or Natural Resource access management.

Provisos /Willingness statement(s)
  • Ability to withstand the rigors of field work.
  • A valid B.C. Driver's license is required.
  • Must be willing and able to work in adverse outdoor conditions and terrain.
  • Must meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
