    What can I expect to do in this role?

    What you'll do:
    The foundation of our relationship with Ontarians is trust; we must be responsible stewards of clients in Long-Term Care Homes they entrust us to protect. We take that responsible to heart and then some. In this role, you'll get to contribute heavily to that charter.
    LTC Homes Inspectors perform a variety of duties that are performed during on-site inspections of LTC Homes across Ontario. You will be focused on ensuring licensees are providing high quality, compassionate care to our communities and take great pride in fostering an inclusive and accessible environment.

    Who you'll work with:
    You will work extensively with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals from a variety of backgrounds; Nurses, Dietitians, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists. As a team, the goals include; integrating improvement,; ensuring our processes and tools continually elevate care within the sector, and most importantly protect and provide the highest quality of care for one societies most vulnerable population
    Mandatory
  • You have a current registration in good standing as one or the following professional designations:
    Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian, Registered Physiotherapist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist with no restrictions on practice in the Province of Ontario.
  • You have a valid class “G” driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario to drive on Ontario highways to conduct field work
  • You are willing to travel extensively and work outside normal business hours
    Job offer is conditional on the successful completion of the following:
  • Ability to successfully complete the Provincial Offences Officer training program.
  • Ability to complete and successfully pass the Inspector Certification process within established timeframe.
    Please note: The position requires extensive travel within the province. You may also be required to work at locations other than the head office or satellite offices.

  • How do I qualify?

    Investigative, Analytical and Organizational Skills

    • You have advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to examine information and evaluate evidence from a variety of sources, including clinical files, policies and procedures, financial and administrative information, survey data, and observations of the physical environment
    • You can establish priorities on health care issues of LTC home residents, and enforce legislation and ministry policy
    • You can develop and execute an inspection plan, including managing relevant documents and information
    • You have knowledge and experience in performing inspection functions (e.g., interviewing, documenting reviews, observing direct care, employing risk assessment methodology)
    • You can function independently and effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment

    Communication Skills

    • You can write clear and detailed inspection reports, as well, you can communicate legislative requirements effectively and present information to a range of stakeholders (e.g., LTC home operators and residents, health care providers, members of the public)

    Leadership, Interpersonal, Problem-Solving and Negotiation Skills

    • You can exercise sound judgement, political acuity and discretion when assessing appropriate actions for non-compliant homes
    • You can foster cooperation, and resolve sensitive issues with LTC homes operators, other health care organizations and service providers (e.g. CCAC) while maintaining a high degree of professionalism
    • You have proven leadership and interpersonal skills

    Health Care Knowledge and Experience

    • You have knowledge of and experience working in long-term care homes, and/or clinical experience in the health care or social services sectors
    • You demonstrate the ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant legislation, technical and clinical guidelines, policies and procedures pertaining to LTC homes operations

    Computer Skills

    • You are proficient with Microsoft Office, as well as word processing, databases and spreadsheet applications to prepare reports and correspondence
