Job Description:

Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home Inc. is currently seeking a highly organized, energetic, problem-solving Full-Time Permanent Maintenance Attendant for our 200-bed residential facility. The role is responsible for maintaining all systems and equipment in and around the Home for the safety and comfort of the residents, staff and visitors according to Nursing Home Standards. Duties include but not limited to; painting, carpentry, basic plumbing, equipment repairs to air conditioners, lifts, lighting replacement and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Possess knowledge of and have 2 years experience related to the work required with respect to painting, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, mechanics and home equipment
  • Knowledge and ability to locate and repair maintenance problems with minimal supervision
  • Trained in the use of precision tools (Torque Wrenches, Tap & Die Sets, etc.), small engine repair, minor welding and the operation of snow clearing and lawn mowing equipment as required
  • Good previous work record
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction without supervision.
  • Mentally and physically able to perform assigned duties. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record

Regular Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic skills to complete mechanical repairs of equipment such as roof top units, generator
  • Perform advanced repairs of equipment including electrical, motors, vehicles, when deemed appropriate
  • Modification of existing equipment or building when appropriate with special focus on safety of residents and staff
  • Installation of new equipment
  • Performs maintenance duties to minimize the hiring of outside agencies (ie. Plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, etc.)
  • Perform all preventative maintenance on equipment as generated by the Preventative Maintenance Program and Direct Digital Controls System for monitoring roof top units
  • Perform requests for repairs to equipment or other related functions (i.e.. light switches, replacing tap washers, replacing worn belts, roof top units, lubricating motors, and hinges)
  • Perform general repairs such as touch up plastering, painting (interior/exterior), replacing tile, repair wall coverings, minor repairs to windows and doors, caulking and sealing as required
  • Furniture repair and maintenance, build cupboards/shelves/planters, etc.
  • Assist tradesmen where necessary with repairs on equipment or other services as needed
  • Report any parts or equipment that may be needed to your Maintenance Team Leader
  • Record all work/tasks and repairs as completed
  • Grounds keeping as required
  • Regularly and systematically inspect the emergency alarm and lighting systems as requested by the Maintenance Team Leader
  • Keep the Store Rooms neat and clean at all times
  • Respond to emergency facility needs on an on-call basis
  • All other duties as may be assigned by the maintenance supervisor
