Permanent. Maintenance Worker - Maintenance and Repair
$25.00 - $30.00/ hour based on experience
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing common maintenance issues in residential and commercial rental properties throughout Chatham-Kent. Repairs may include plumbing, repairing drywall, painting, flooring, carpentry etc.
Hours of Work:
8:00 am -4:00 pm
Major Responsibilities:
Preparing units for new tenants and ensuring ongoing maintenance of rental properties.
Conduct inspections of units, troubleshoot, report and repair in a timely manner resident requests.
-Repair leaks in toilets, sinks and minor plumbing issues.
- Drywall repairs and painting.
- Disposing of discarded furniture and items from previous tenants.
- Maintain accurate records (e.g. reports, work orders, etc.)
Clean up and dispose of debris upon completion of the day or job.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
Must be proficient in the English language in order to comprehend maintenance manuals
Familiar with the common plumbing/ electrical, construction within buildings/units to diagnose issues.
Minimum three years’ related experience in maintenance or construction
Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License in good standing. A driving abstract will be required.
Skills and Competencies:
Thorough and current knowledge of building standards, building codes and household equipment
Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance and working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and maintenance equipment, materials and tools.
Ability to work independently at various job sites and respond to the administrative requirements of processing and completing work orders
W.H.M.I.S and working at heights considered an asset.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Written and practical test will be facilitated to short listed candidates.
