Maintenance Technician

North Star Woodbridge (20 Can-Ar Gate, Woodbridge, ON L4H 5A2)

Shift/Hours: Monday- Friday 6:00AM-2:30PM *Shift flexibility required* (*Note- this role will likely only require 40- hr/week; additional hours/OT not typically available).

Starting Wage: To be determined, based on experience.

North Star Woodbridge is seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. You will be partnered with a team of Engineers and Manufacturing Staff to help support the daily activities associated with sustaining a thriving door manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, installing or dismantling machinery and equipment, as required to support company initiatives. In addition to repairing and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, this position may require diagnosing and solving electrical issues with plant equipment. This position is Straight Days; Monday-Friday, however, shift flexibility is required for the role, to meet production demand and important deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure work performed adheres to relevant safety regulations, codes and specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Answer breakdown calls, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and address them proactively.
  • Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work orders, inventory and maintenance history.
  • Fabricate or modify parts as needed to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks.
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
  • Working at heights- Skyjack, Boom Lift.
  • Identify and report safety hazards.
  • All tools required will be supplied by North Star.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must be safety conscious.

Work Conditions

  • Flexibility in scheduling may be required to support production demand/important deadlines (i.e. available to work evenings and weekends, if required).
  • Physical ability to lift 50lb.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to remain standing, crouching or bending for long periods of time.
  • Safety equipment required (i.e., Steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses etc.).

Critical Skills

  • A “ Jack of all Trades” type of individual.
  • Extremely reliable, resourceful, and available to attend to equipment breakdowns and other urgent matters.
  • Good written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Great attendance record.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Maintenance role, specifically working in manufacturing and/or construction industries.
  • Experience must include troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical equipment.
  • Experience and excellent understanding of CMMS work orders systems.
  • Maintenance Connection program experience an asset, but not required.
  • Fenestration industry experience a definite asset.
  • Candidates with an Apprenticeship in this field are welcome to apply.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada, and able to pass a criminal background check.
