EY has a well-established Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS) practice to respond to our client's growing need of guidance in three key areas: social and environmental sustainability, Climate Change and health, safety and environment (HSE). Our services are varied, but include strategy and implementation, impact measurement, assessment of policies, programs and management systems, assurance over sustainability-related data and greenhouse gas emission verification. We are looking to expand our team of professionals focused on providing high value, independent, trusted advice to our clients as they transition to a more sustainable economy. Your key responsibilities


The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. That means you'll need to think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues.


As a Manager, your responsibilities are to:

  • Directly support client engagements and help build our practice as we address to the growing interest in the energy transition and carbon markets. The position will support our growing CCaSS practice on engagements related to Climate Change and decarbonisation, as well as support other EY service line teams seeking to understand emerging climate-related risks and opportunities stemming from regulatory action or stakeholder pressure,
  • Identify/communicate trends, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to clients and potential clients. Demonstrate a deep understanding of client industry and marketplace.
  • Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team. Successfully delegate to and manage all levels of staff. Conduct performance reviews serve as a positive role model and mentor, and contribute to performance feedback/training. Foster teamwork and lead by example.
  • Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery. With guidance from leadership, maintain an educational program to continually develop skills.

  • Ability to design and execute a logical phased approach to understand complex or unusual issues client issues, and design, recommend and implement insightful and pragmatic solutions
  • Ability to take a pragmatic approach to issues that underpin client relationships while demonstrating and living the firm's values
  • Demonstrate professionalism and poise in working with and presenting to clients or EY executives, and in developing relationships with potential clients
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills and an ability to translate recommendations and other ideas effectively and concisely in reports, presentation materials, client proposals and other written communication
  • Be technically comfortable at the interplay of Climate Change, energy systems and the economy to focus on the energy transition and resilience building, and its associated risks and opportunities for our clients conducting climate risk assessments working with climate data models and processing geo-referenced climate hazard indicators evaluating climate adaptation strategies and resilience building opportunities
  • Share our passion for helping businesses and other clients become more sustainable
  • Willingness for out-of-town travel, either domestically or internationally (may be required approximately 20% of the time)


To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Advanced degree(s) in Engineering or Environmental Science alongside competence in Energy, Sustainability, Business/Economics or vice versa
  • 8+ years of professional experience climate resilience building ideally in a consulting role with some responsibility for business development/sales.
  • An in-depth and up-to-date awareness of the pressure facing corporations to develop climate adaptation strategies, matched with first-hand experience in developing and implementing solutions
  • Experience in assessing Climate Change risk using scenario analysis
  • Experience working with financial institutions on assessing climate risk and opportunities to portfolios would also be an asset
  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills
  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Location is flexible between Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and professionals nationally and globally. Professional competency in the English language is therefore a requirement of this role. Bilingualism in both French and English is considered an asset

  • The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $70,000 to $125,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
