Job description

This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Services and Operations, the Manager, Corporate Services is responsible for managing financial services including budget planning, cost and revenue management and human resources related functions such as planning, labour relations, etc. for the Members, Independent Officers and the staff of the Legislative Assembly.

The Manager, Corporate Services develops policies and procedures in management and control of items on the controllable assets inventory for the Legislative Assembly and develops and implements risk management and insurance procedures related to controllable assets and liaises with the Facilities Manager with regards to implementations for the security contract. This position also acts as a project manager or contributes to other’s projects developments, as assigned by the director, in order to achieve the division results and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the services and support provided.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a degree in Business Administration, Commerce or a related field from a recognized university, plus seven years of combined experience in financial and human resources management, and two years of experience in a management position. Completion of or enrollment in a professional accounting designation is a strong asset. A certificate or diploma in human resources management would be considered an asset.This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
