Join Tourism Sun Peaks as Manager of Finance and Administration and play a pivotal role in the organization’s daily administrative and financial management. You are a hands-on, collaborative manager with proven experience in accounting, budgeting, contract management and office administration.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Provide oversight for the organization and be responsible for the entire range of financial management, from daily operations to high-level management.
- Oversee the annual finance planning/budgeting processes
- Work with the Executive Director and department managers to develop organizational budget and forecasts
- Perform full cycle accounting using Sage 300
- Reconcile banks, credit cards, prepaid expenses and accruals monthly
- Analytics and occupancy reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements. Analyze and present financial results to the finance committee of the board
- Prepare reports for government funding including MRDT and grants, and assist with grant applications
- Coordinate the annual audit with an independent CPA
- Oversee and manage payroll and benefits including PTO accrual, retirement plans and remittances
- Create and maintain excellent financial controls, policies and procedures
- Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems including receipts, disbursements, billing, budgeting and accounting
- Supervise the Finance and Administration Assistant and oversee accounts receivable and payable
- Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices
- Oversee office operations, insurance and building maintenance
- Negotiate/manage contracts with contractors and suppliers, and property leases
- Serve as the liaison with the IT consultant and purchase IT equipment as needed
- Oversee risk management and legal activities, and ensure all TSP activities are compliant with the Mountain Resort Act/Societies Act, Work Safe BC, Societies Act, BC Labour Standards, MRDT, tax regulations
- Work with the Executive Director on HR initiatives remaining current on best practices, laws and regulations
- Develop and implement new processes and systems that increase financial and operational efficiency
- Board of Directors support: attend and minute all board meetings and the AGM; guide/administer bylaw reviews and updates
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Accounting designation is an asset
- Passion for organizational and financial management
- Minimum of 5 years of senior financial experience. Non-profit or government experience is an asset
- Multiyear experience in finance and accounting functions
- Experience using Sage 300 including Statement Designer
- Ability to connect with staff and to ensure accountability and adherence to organizational policies
- Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends and incorporate them into organizational/financial planning
- Tourism industry experience is an asset
- Self-Starter
