We are currently recruiting for a crucial opening with a charitable organization that provides safe shelter and support for homeless families in BC. Bring your solid leadership abilities, deep understanding of Human Resources and Labour Relations, and passion for helping those in need to this unique part-time opening based in Vancouver.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is pivotal in overseeing all Human Resources and Labour Relations activities. While supervising a team of 15-20 unionized staff, you will develop HR policies, interpret Collective Agreements and advise on grievance processes. You’ll oversee end-to-end payroll processing among other payroll and HR duties, and maintain proactive relationships with LR officers to address union-related challenges.
This one-of-a-kind opportunity requires the successful incumbent to work 3 days per week, with the ability to work flexible hours when required.

What You’ll Do
- Supervise daily operations and staff schedules
- Manage end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll processing, investigating and resolving any payroll issues
- Ensure payroll reporting records are accurate and create reports for analysis
- Approve timesheets, calculating pay and benefit entitlements as well as other payments
- Prepare and process invoices and deposits
- Oversee the development and implementation of HR and LR policies and procedures
- Manage compensation and benefits plans, providing guidance to employees and managers
- Lead recruitment and selection strategies, ensuring compliance with collective agreements
- Oversee onboarding, performance reviews, and learning and development plans
- Participate in relevant management, staff and committee meetings
- Perform other related duties as required
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading and managing staff is required
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a HR/LR Generalist role within a unionized environment
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in front-line social service delivery
- In-depth working knowledge of HR programs and services, applicable legislation and policies (Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety and Human Rights Code)
- Demonstrated proficiency with various computer programs including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), and HRIS
- Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle
