About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Provincial Director Infection Prevention and Control, the Health Services Manager-Infection Prevention and Control assists the Provincial Lead Infection Prevention and Control in providing leadership within NSHA’s overall provincial Infection Prevention and Control program. The Manager contributes to the development and is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and evaluation of all aspects of a comprehensive and provincially integrated Infection Control Program to achieve the best outcomes in health care program and service delivery, safe care and continuous improvement to meet or exceed all accreditation requirements and legislative requirements. This position oversees the clinical, operational and administrative activities of the Infection Control program across the designated zone.
Demonstrating leadership behaviours and capabilities consistent with LEADS in a Caring Environment framework, which include Leads Self, Engages Others, Achieves Results, Develops Coalitions, and Systems Transformation, the position is responsible for the following:
-Supports and works closely with the Provincial Director Infection Prevention and Control in the development, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and management of the Infection Control program across the designated zone
-Assists with the development of goals and objectives and implements strategies to support the mandate and delivery of provincially integrated Infection Prevention and Control program and services
-Ensures collaboration and engagement with internal and external stakeholders throughout designated zones, and across all its clinical teams and disciplines
-Emphasizes best practice guidance and importance of research in shaping the practices of Infection Control
-Leads and participates in data collection and evaluates results for quality and research projects (e.g. The Canadian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program (CNISP), Canadian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program (CHEC), prevalence studies)
-Oversees a surveillance system for nosocomial infection and communicable disease; conducting prospective analysis of outcomes related to nosocomial infection and directs outbreak management response in the zone
-Provides leadership in the development and leads the implementation of quality and patient safety plans, including action plans to meet all applicable accreditation, legislative and policy based requirements which serve to enhance quality, reduce risk enhance patient experience and engagement, monitor and advance Infection Prevention and control and increase patient safety
-Assists with the establishment of decision support information systems and initiatives to measure quality and people-centered care initiatives
-Tracks and monitors Infection Prevention and Control performance indicatorsand activities; ensuring effective follow up, as required
-Contributes to building a culture of safety, engagement and quality improvement with the clinical teams, the portfolios and the organizations
-Remains current on issues affecting practice, patient/client care, system efficiency and effectiveness; and informs decision making related to health care programs and services
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
-Undergraduate degree from a health care profession program/discipline required
-Master's level preparation in a clinical health discipline, Health Services Administration, Business Administration or a related program an asset
-Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating a variety of activities related to Infection Prevention and Control or related health care programming, provided across several locations and broad clinical settings with multiple partners and stakeholders.
-Appropriate licensure/membership in professional organizations
-Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (or willingness to complete certification within 2 years of hire.) To be renewed every 5 years.
-Training related to Infection Prevention and Control (or willingness to complete the Infection Control course on hire).
-Certified Health Executive is an asset
-Demonstrated knowledge and ability in related clinical health care practice, education, and program planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
-Leadership and Management experience an asset; including human resource functions, labour relations and financial planning.
-Experience engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participatory manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of integrated organizations and developing programs and standards to support the vision, goals and objectives of a healthcare organization.
-Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both in written and verbal forms
-Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
-Permanent, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$46.76 - $62.14 Hourly
