MANAGER OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Person:
Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent, and a member of the district leadership team, the Manager of Information Technology is a leader with proven experience in the management of digital resources for an organization. They are a change-maker as they advise on and implement key projects and initiatives through the use of technology to support and foster innovative practices that positively impact all staff and learners. They will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, and perform their duties with the utmost care for confidentiality and diplomacy. The Manager of IT will project a positive image with staff, visitors, and parents and promote respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
The Role:
The Manager of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support in all areas of digital resources including technology infrastructure, data management, security, software, procurement, communication, and the training and education of staff. The salary range is between $112,619 to $140,773 per year.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing leadership and guidance to the technology team including coordination of work and training;
• Contributing to the development, refinement, and delivery of the district’s technology plan and ensuring the alignment of technology investments with services to student learning;
• Supporting the collection and maintenance of student data using designated ministry program (MyEd);
• Providing advice to school and departmental leaders with respect to ministry data collection; education of staff, procurement and use of technology and educational software and applications;
• Overseeing procurement for infrastructure and equipment (e.g. servers, hardware, software, devices);
• Liaising and collaborating with external and third-party service providers to deliver Information Technology services to the district;
• Ensuring all School District data is secure and follows all Ministry FOIPPA regulations;
• Developing data back-up systems and disaster recovery contingencies;
• Project lead; including planning, budgeting, timelines, and task allocation;
• Analyzing the IT budget and maintaining cost effectiveness;
• Dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues with a high degree of diplomacy and confidentiality.
The Qualifications:
Our Manager of Information Technology confidently demonstrates the following attributes and experiences:
• Post-secondary degree in information systems or computer sciences;
• Proven leadership skills and a team approach to managing employees;
• Experience in data management;
• Practical experience with computer networks, network administration and installation, devices and device management;
• Knowledge of both Windows and Apple products and operating systems. Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls, Outlook Exchange, Google, and VMWare;
• Must possess a comprehensive understanding and demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting and providing support across a wide range of technological domains;
• Proven track record in managing and leading projects successfully;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, together with advanced organizational and interpersonal abilities;
• Experience in the K-12 educational system would also be considered an asset.
