Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager – Processing is responsible for overseeing the effective processing of ore. They direct and manage all processing activities including planning, staffing, budgeting, cost control and profitability. They analyze processing information and provide direction in the development of the processing department. Work with the management team to develop overall strategy for processing.
- Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
- Work with the management team to establish the direction and the mid to long term strategies for the processing team.
- Identify options and implement actions to adopt best practices for processing.
- Establish production targets, ensure processing throughput matches the budget plan and adjust or deal with issues as they arise.
- Direct and supervise all processing operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and safety goals.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize resource utilization.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of processing staff, including operators, maintenance personnel, and other support staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the processing workforce.
- Ensure direct reports are developed, trained, and coached to obtain optimum efficiencies.
- Champion and enforce safety protocols and best practices to create a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and take corrective actions to mitigate potential hazards.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure that equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Prepare the processing production budget based on information from the overall mine budget and business plan objectives.
- Monitor and control operational costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
- Implement efficiency measures to optimize resource utilization and reduce waste.
- Bachelor's degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering or related field required.
- 10 to 15 years of mill related experience.
- 8 to 10 years experience in a supervisory role.
- Working knowledge of processing methods and procedures.
- Commitment to the occupational health and safety policies of the business period
- Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
- Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
- Start up experience an asset.
- Ability to create a world class processing department.
