Job description
- Machine parts to drawing specification utilizing manual equipment, while working according to EHS standards; tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary
- Prove out manufacturing process on the floor with machinists & peers
- Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines; Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work
- Provide feedback to peers, engineers, other machinists and programmers on design and process improvement
- Root cause analysis and problem solving
- Work as a team by openly collaborating with engineers and fellow team members; Proactively communicate with engineers, management, and other team members through verbal, email, text, phone and other internal electronic communications
- Participate in continuous improvement projects for the shop and Tesla
Request
- Basic & Intermediate Apprentice training from qualified college
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents and GD&T
- Thorough knowledge in the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc.
- Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools etc.)
- Positive energy and attitude, with a passion for prototyping and machining; Thrives in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment with tight deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, as well as a strong mechanical aptitude
