Dawson Co-op invites applications for the full time temporary position of Marketing Summer Studentto join our Marketing team at our Administration Office located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
The Marketing Summer Student will support and help execute Dawson Co-operative Union’s Community Investment and Sponsorship events and Brand activities throughout the summer months. Events range from coordinating large-scale external events to internal employee events and training, working closely with the Marketing team to execute opportunities to enhance corporate culture.

This position is part of the 2024 Dawson Co-op Summer Student Program. This 4-month program demonstrates Dawson Co-op’s commitment to investing in our future workforce and supports youth in building beneficial career skills. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a full-time degree or diploma program at an accredited post-secondary institution and must be returning full-time in the fall.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:
- To come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude
- To be dependable for all scheduled shifts
- Provide support and coordination of Dawson Co-op internal and external events
- Large event (ie. Fall Fair, Contractor Expo, Car Show, etc.) sponsorship and creative deliverable tracking and event execution
- Assist with planning and executing employee Membership training
- Assist with the implementation of the employee communication platform
- Support the Marketing Team in digital asset management and collateral-proof trafficking
- Support in drafting internal Community storytelling, digital screen/poster copy for event communications
- Assist with creative and sponsorship collateral vendor liaison, estimates, and tracking
- Administering data input into various CRM databases
- Fax, photocopy, scan, file, and other administrative duties related to the Marketing Department.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education Required
- Enrolled in a Public Relations/Marketing/Communications or related Diploma or Degree program, returning to full-time school following the work term
Qualifications
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Event planning experience is an asset
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong writing skills, attention to detail
- Must have flexibility with work hours, including occasional early mornings and weekends
- Valid BC Driver’s License
