What You Will Get To Do

The successful candidate will have a positive impact on our corporate culture by demonstrating the Town’s CARE core values (Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) through daily interactions with individuals at all levels of the organization, external contacts and elected officials.

By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.

Reporting to, and under the direction of the Digital Lead, the Summer Student may be responsible for some or all of the following:

• Support and deliver digital online strategies for corporate and community-focused initiatives;
• Provide support for indexing online platforms, seeking areas to improve the user experience, including websites, social media, and video and photo libraries;
• Create engaging photo and video content for online platforms;
• Shoot and edit photos and videos from all around the Town;
• Review and research municipal best practices to leverage digital channels to reach different audiences, including youth;
• Work with internal business partners to determine online priorities.

You listen attentively and ask questions for clarification and understanding. Using sound judgment, you demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with the public.

You’re always happy to learn new things and to help build a working environment that encourages and cultivates new ideas. You foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers, and work well both independently and as part of a team.

What You Bring To Our Team

• a 'can-do' attitude with a willingness to put everything on the table and propose creative solution to problms;
• strong storytelling skills with the ability to clearly communicate complez content in a digestible way using out-of-the-box tactics;
• the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced, complex, and team-oriented environment;
• superior verbal and written communication skills;
• a valid unrestricted Class "G" diver's licence maintained in good standing with access to personal reliable vehicle.

What We Offer You

• $19.25 to $21.42 per hour

• The Town is currently undertaking an extensive job evaluation review for CUPE positions. The salaries and job responsibilities for all part-time unionized postings are being considered under review until the results and ratings for these positions are finalized and shared. Please be aware that salaries and job responsibilities may be impacted by this review.

Students must be currently enrolled in and attending a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis (students will be required to provide proof) for the 2023/2024 school year and be returning to a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis in September 2024.

Students selected must be available to commence summer employment as early as May 6, 2024 and commit to working through to, and including, August 30, 2024.
