About the Role
Leadership of the material planning function and process. No direct supervision of incumbents and/or work units/departments. Provides informal training or instruction to co-workers / colleagues.
Your Responsibilities
- Key lead for all aspects of material planning: (trouble shoot issues, system and process improvements, MRP parameters, best practices, Champion all material shortages and/or risks and follow through “from cradle to grave”, ensure timely escalation to appropriate personnel).
- Process MRP and review accuracy of supplier requirements.
- Issue material releases to suppliers. Monitor and manage vendor shipments to ensure release adherence and maintain appropriate inventory levels at all times. Trouble shoot and escalate over and under shipments from suppliers. Utilize system-based reports to identify risk and provide update on status daily. Proactively manage potential shortages.
- Review inventory levels of parts to ensure that they are within department/company goal. Maintain Inventory accuracy including cycle counting where applicable.
- Determine correct lead times, safety stock levels and other MRP parameters. Review and modify to correct for any issues/changes to business.
- Determine space requirements and participate in warehouse design.
Who we are looking for
- Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
- Post-Secondary Certification in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM – APICS), preferred
- 5 years job-related experience, preferably in an automotive environment
- Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in fast paced/high urgency environment.
- Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use

- Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
