Responsibilities
The Measurement Mechanic will perform all of the following duties without direct supervision, as well as all other duties associated with the operation of the Measurement Shop which are of an equal or lesser skill level as the duties listed:
-Repair, adjust, prove, maintain and issue all classes of meters, auxiliary devices and regulators;
-Understand and operate all measurement apparatus used to maintain metering and regulation devices;
-Analyze all data derived from proof and other tests, and make proper determination as to type and scope of repairs and adjustments so as to ensure continued accurate performance with due regard to repair cost controls;
-Adhere to all requirements for the shop Quality Assurance program;
-Assemble metering and regulation sub-assemblies;
-Accurately and neatly complete all documentation;
-Assist the Measurement Technician and the Measurement Shop Leader as required, with duties of equal or lesser skill than those required of a Measurement Mechanic.
-As a fully training incumbent, provide assistance in training those who are still in the training phase of the classification
Requirements
-High school diploma, including Grade 11 mathematics or physics, or equivalent.
-Valid BC Class 5 driver's license.
-Capability of acquiring and retaining a thorough understanding of the operation of gas metering and regulating equipment.
-Capability of acquiring and retaining the skills necessary to perform the duties of the Measurement Mechanic job description.
-Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
-Demonstrated safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations and practices on a sustained basis.
-Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
-Physical ability to lift, carry and place materials and equipment.
-Capable of becoming proficient in operating a forklift and other material handling equipment.
-Demonstrated initiative and responsibility for quality.
Additional Information
-On feet most of the day.
-Considerable bending and lifting.
-Applicants will be considered in the following order:
-Those who meet the required qualifications and are judged immediately able to satisfactorily perform all of the duties of the Measurement Mechanic job description. Any such applicants hired will receive the Measurement Mechanic 1 rate of pay;
-Those who meet the required qualifications and are judged immediately able to satisfactorily perform all of the duties associated with the Measurement Mechanic 2 rate of pay;
-All other applicants who meet the required qualifications.
-Overtime requirements:  This role may have overtime requirements based on operational needs.
-Travel requirements:  This role may have travel requirements based on operational needs.
-This position has a requirement to be clean-shaven as per WCB standards.
