Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division has a career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer. This position will support the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations at SRCs Rare Earth Processing FacilityNorth Americas first fully integrated, commercial, demonstration facility with hydrometallurgy, separation and metal smelting units. Join a growing team that is working to establish a rare earth element (REE) technology hub in Saskatchewan, forming an industry model for future commercial REE initiatives and supply chain development.
Accountabilities
Responsible for complete design requirements for mineral processing equipment, piping systems, HVAC, pumps and material handling systems related to mining, metal and chemical processing
Prepare, review and evaluate documents, including construction work packages, material takeoffs, request for quotations, technical bid evaluations, specifications, contracts and vendor submittals/drawings
Perform field verification and provide on-site support during construction and commissioning
Interface with contractors and vendors and manage external engineering contracts
Review, verify and approve project documents, drawings and design work related to plant equipment and support structures
Qualifications
Mechanical engineering degree with registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
Minimum 5 years of experience in industry relating to mining, mineral and metal processing, chemical or similar processing industries
Work experience with engineering firms providing engineering, procurement and construction management services
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties.
