Ivaco Rolling Mills is looking for a Mechanical maintenance Supervisor to join the Team!

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager Rod Mill, as a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you supervise and direct the maintenance team to ensure mechanical equipment maintenance at the Plant in order to meet safety, quality, efficiency, cost and service objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures safe work practices and procedures.
• Responsible for the application and formulation of the Company’s Health and Safety program and ensuring all employees have an opportunity to learn elements of the safety program.
• Performs safety audit.
• Ensures that all employees are trained in job requirements before permanent assignment. A team of around 25 people.
• Searches for new material to update training for all employees.
• Ensures implementation of Company training programs and development of department’s personnel.
• Informs subordinators of performance expectations.
• Monitors and evaluates performance and coaches as necessary.
• Interviews, reviews qualifications, selects and recommends employment candidates.
• Ensures compliance to Company regulations and policies. Ensures the usage of corrective measures/discipline on violations.
• Defines Department Quality Standards and ensures all employees are aware of standards and new requirements.
• Ensures ISO procedures are current and adhered to for the department.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Observe all safety rules.
• Determines the repairs required, using reports and schedules, determines work schedules, plans shutdown and repairs.
• Reports and investigates all accidents with an aim to prevent reoccurrence.
• Conducts monthly safety meetings and makes safety observations.
• Ensures that each employee is trained in their job. Complete training checklists as soon as training is completed.
• Informs employees of expectations.
• Assigns tasks, communicates work schedule and deadlines, set, and defines priority, reports on delays. Initiates preventive/corrective actions to meet deadlines.
• In coordination with his supervisor attempts to settle concerns/interpretation disputes at his own level and applies provisions of the Collective agreements.
• Completes daily shift reports.
• Ensures timekeeping is approved on a weekly basis.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Mechanical Engineer with 5 years of relevant experience or Qualified Red Seal certified trades person with 10 years of relevant experience
• Previous experience working in an industrial setting/ manufacturing mill would be considered a strong asset
• Experience with CMMS system
• Intermediate excel skills
• Bilingual: English and French **preferred
