Job description

Copperstone Technologies (Copperstone) is a Canadian-based engineering firm specializing in the design, production, and operation of HELIX, an industrial autonomous amphibious robot developed for environmental monitoring. Inspired by space robotics and advanced remote sensing, Copperstone envisions developing innovative tools and exploratory methods to help Earth’s most challenging environments. Available for purchase and shipped globally, HELIX offers unparalleled autonomy, remote sensing, reliability, and versatility, opening new possibilities for industries such as mining, construction, search and rescue, military applications, agriculture, environmental monitoring and research, disaster response and more.

What sets us apart? Our technical professionals, just like you, excel at problem solving and applying our cutting-edge technology to your unique challenges and presenting solutions that work for you.

In the role of Mechanical Project Lead at Copperstone you will report to the General Manager. You will have a P.Eng. designation and 4 to 8 years of relevant experience. Your key responsibility is to lead and support the Mechanical team as they develop, build and analyze our HELIX robotic products. You will bring previous experience in the implementation of a Quality Management System, defining, implementing, and maintaining quality processes and standards. As a leader in the organization, you will work collaboratively with other technical team leaders and technical staff. You will support our product life cycles, from conceptualization through to client implementation and customer support.

Responsibilities will include:

Mechanical Project Lead:

● Oversee the entire lifecycle of the mechanical design process, from planning and design to testing and implementation.

● Translate the client’s requirements to components through innovative and reliable mechanical product development.

● Act as a bridge between the company, client, technical and field teams.

● Analyze the mechanical design and refine it as per requirements.

● Ensure adherence to national and local regulations and standards.

● Assist/contribute to technical planning for the product development roadmap and spearhead the development of quality management plans for new and existing products.

Quality Assurance:

● Support the implementation and maintain quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the delivery of world-class products.

● Actively improve and streamline QA processes to increase overall productivity.

● Troubleshoot defects in design, conduct research, and propose solutions.

● Conduct failure analyses for mechanical and electrical systems, producing informative reports which can then be applied to directly improve quality.

● Define, implement and maintain maintenance standards and tracking for Copperstone assets.

● Actively monitor team performance as it relates to Quality Management, and provide constructive feedback.

Collaboration:

● Actively participate in team and cross team meetings, contributing to design reviews and providing feedback where required.

● Collaborate with engineering teams during the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, including defining scopes, allocating resources, setting timelines, and monitoring progress to ensure projects are adhering to the Quality Assurance manual.

● Collaborate and support all teams in efforts to resolve any design, manufacturing, and operation issues.

● Contribute to and foster a continuous improvement culture within the organization.

Safety and Compliance

● Maintain a “safety first” attitude in all aspects of your work and lead by example.
